Container and truck load calculator, in 3D

Enter your pallet and box dimensions. The load is drawn in 3D and the figures come back as you type: pallet positions used, how much of the usable volume is filled, and what floor length, headroom and payload is still free.

Who it is for

If you have to put a number on “will it fit?”

Logistics engineers

How many pallets of part X fit a 53' trailer or a 40' container, and where the empty space ends up. The print sheet and the copy-for-Excel are there because the figure usually has to go into a decision or a deck.

Packaging, before the tooling is ordered

Two inches off the carton can add a layer, or change nothing at all. Alter the box and watch the layers, the tiers and the headroom move with it.

One trailer or two, and what the dock will see

Whether the freight fills the equipment or leaves half of it empty, before it is booked — and what the load will actually look like once it is built, with the boxes you were given rather than the ones on the spec sheet.

The point of it

Drawn to the same 30° projection the simulator's own canvas uses, from the configuration running in the frame above.

A fill percentage will not tell you where the room is

Open floor at the doors and a band of headroom over the whole load are both “23% full”, and they need opposite decisions. One takes another row; the other takes taller pallets, or nothing at all. So the figures name the space, not just the fraction.

329.6 in free floor 29.3 in headroom
Six of the eighteen pallet positions in a 40' HC, four box layers on each. The simulator reports 329.6 in of free floor beyond the last row and 29.3 in of headroom above the load.

Nine transport units are built in, each overridable with your own measurements — the interior dimensions table lists them.

Run it again

Every figure recomputes as you type, so a question that would take an afternoon in a spreadsheet takes a minute.

Change one number and watch the rest move

Nobody opens this once. The value is not the first answer — it is the second, third and fourth, lined up against each other. Simulate the options before anything is ordered:

  • A carton two inches shorter — does a fourth layer fit, or does nothing change?
  • The same pallet turned ninety degrees — 26 positions, or 30?
  • A 40' high cube against a 53' trailer, for the same order

Save each version by name and the comparison outlives the session. A share code carries the whole setup to a colleague, or into the meeting where the decision gets made.

Two modes

One box size, or a real order

The same box, all the way through

Single part mode. One box size on one pallet type, repeated through the unit. Set the layers per pallet and the tiers to stack; both are capped at what the ceiling allows, and it says so when it has capped them.

A real order, with mixed sizes

Multiple parts mode. Exact quantities for several part types at once. Each part keeps its own pallet type and its own pallets — two part types never share a pallet.

The full controls, and what layers and tiers do to stack height, are on the guide.

Questions

Before you start

How many pallets fit in a 53' trailer?

Twenty-six 48 × 40 in pallets on the floor, in two rows of thirteen — or thirty, turned so the 40 in side runs along the trailer. A second tier doubles either figure if the loaded pallet is under 55 in tall.

Is it free?

Yes, in full, with no account and no card. Nothing is gated and nothing is a trial.

Does my load data leave my browser?

No. The simulator contains no network calls at all. Your dimensions, quantities and saved scenarios stay in your own browser's local storage.

Will it tell me which container to book?

No. It draws the configuration you give it and reports what is left over. Choosing equipment, and checking weight limits and securement, stays with you.

Scope

What it does not do

It draws one configuration at a time. It does not choose for you.

  • It does not recommend a transport unit, a best fit or an optimal load.
  • It does not check securement, axle loads, weight distribution or legal limits.
  • Payload is measured against a single 20,200 kg limit for every unit, so on a 20' container or a flatbed read the weight meter as an estimate.
